What is Podcasting? Print E-mail

podcasting Podcasting is simply a method of distributing fresh audio from web sites that offer audio content. Users can install a Podcast client program on their local computer or use their web browser to subscribe to Podcast 'feeds' found at web sites offering audio. The Podcast client checks the feeds on a regular basis for new content, and when it is available it is downloaded to the user's computer automatically.

For example, a user who subscribes to the RRCC Podcasts will automatically receive our latest content delivered to their Podcast client whenever we post new audio.

What do I need to get started?

There are 2 ways. If you have the latest Internet Explorer 7, you can create subscriptions in the "My Feeds" area by simply clicking on the "IE7" links below. (Also works with Firefox).

The alternative is to download and install a separate Podcast client. This makes it simpler to synchronise with you portable MP3 player or iPod. If you use this method, use the "iTunes" links below.

In summary, for many the "IE7" approach is the simplest, but iTunes etc. is more powerful for those who have a music library on their PC.

Here are a few available Podcast clients: Apple iTunes (for Windows and Macs), jPodder, Juice

Once you have the software installed, click on one of the links below to subscribe to our regularly updated Podcasts
