This Statement of Privacy applies to the RRCC Web site and governs data collection and usage. By using the RRCC website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

Please note, we have adapted a standard document used by businesses and tailored it for use in a church setting. We take data protection seriously and update our software regularly to minimise risks that are within our control to manage.  We invite comments, observations and concerns about our online practices and aim to resolve any issues identified to us typically within a few days, if not sooner.

What does website membership mean?

It means you are a member of the website (!) but not necessarily a member of the church.

Who is allowed to be a member of the RRCC website?

Anyone who has a reason that the website Administrators consider legitimate.

Typically website members are people who regularly associate with RRCC, members of the church who are overseas, ex-members of the church, and people who are new to the church and who are considering becoming members.

Anyone who registers on our website will be reviewed by an Administrator.  When we don't recognise somebody, we usually enter into email correspondence to find out who they are and why they wish to register.

What does website membership give you?

Access to the Family Forums where various different current topics are discussed.

The ability to view news articles and diary dates that are not considered to be 'public'.

The ability to submit news articles for publication on the website.

Access to the online Rota system to let you know 'who' is doing 'what' and 'when'.

Access to the online members telephone directory.

The ability to e-mail other members.

An opportunity to give online via PayPal.

The responsibility for managing your own personal data.

RRCC Web sites will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on RRCC or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of RRCC; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of members of RRCC, or the public.

Use of Cookies

The RRCC Web sites use “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you make use of the Family Forum a cookie is used to identify which posts you have already read, if you delete the cookie, all Forum posts will be marked as unread ... which you might find a little annoying!

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the RRCC services or Web sites you visit.

Security of your Personal Information

RRCC secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. RRCC secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers hosted by a professional third party operator in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

Changes to this Statement

RRCC will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect legal and user feedback. RRCC encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how RRCC is protecting your information.

Last update:  14 October 2011 by Alisdair Semple.

Reason for update:  To remove ambiguous or unnecessary language and to clarify the value of website membership.
