For the first time in 20 years we used a DVD recording for our Sunday morning teaching content.  The reason for doing so is that the teaching PJ Smyth gives on this subject would be difficult to recreate by most other speakers (this is for obvious reasons once you listen to what he said).

 

It should be noted that in during the last five weeks, we as a family of believers have now seen five families undergoing considerable trials due to significant health problems of individuals.  That we planned this teaching series almost 12 months ago, and this particular episode should fall where it has is another evidence of God's gracious hand on us in the midst of severely testing times.

 

PJ supplied his own notes to accompany this talk.  Please look at PJ's notes as the questions below are based on them.

 

Any of the three questions below could easily take up your whole evening.  Choose the one you think most helpful for your group and start there - if you find you have time left over at the end, you're probably best to pray for one another!

 

Q1.  How do you feel about the five possible sources of sickness that PJ identified?  Particularly number 5?

 

Some believers consider that what happened on cross on Christ achieved for us an 'automatic' right to healing now.

Others see the cross as the 'source' of all healing, and hence have confidence that God heals today.

Still others pray for healing, but just don't expect their prayers to be answered(!)

 

Q2. When you pray for healing, do you expect that God will heal every time, when he chooses to or only if you're 'lucky'?  How does this affect the way you pray?  Does what you have heard give you greater confidence to pray for people to be healed?

 

Q3.  Which of the 8 elements PJ chose to live have you had a good experience of?  Which one causes you the biggest challenge currently?
