Discovery: Deuteronomy 6:1-9 Mark 7:20-23 Romans 12:9-21
Understanding: In brief the main points in this talk were that ...
1. The aim of parenting is for your child to know God (not just addressing behaviour).
2. As parents we need to aim for the heart (dealing with motives and intentions).
3. The implications of God's aim for our children is that we need to examine our parenting.
Application: This leads us to five questions ...
1. What is your parenting focus? Your childs' heart or their external behaviour?
2. Whose values? Biblical teaching or popular culture?
3. Do you have a plan? (And do your children know what it is?!)
4. Who can help you? (Books can be helpful, but you can't have a converstaion with a book!)
5. Are you prepared to invest what it takes? (Time etc!)
