24 October 2011 - Response to earthquake PDF print email

Hello all

Many thanks for your concern and messages at this time.  As you know an earthquake hit the East of Turkey yesterday - it was 7.2 on the Richter scale.

As I live in the far west of Turkey and the earthquake hit the far east, I live many miles away from where the earthquake hit so am fine and have not been affected. However, one of my friends from church has relatives there and at the moment has one cousin missing, but because of the situation they cannot get hold of anyone to confirm if she has been found or not. Please pray she is found and the whole family are safe.

The east side of Turkey has very different weather to here and at the moment it is freezing there - so even those who have survived may face increasing problems with lack of blankets, extra clothese and exposure to this cold weather.  There are a number of small groups of believers there, so please pray the Lord would be with them increasingly, and that they would know Him as their rock.

The churches here in Izmir are talking and praying to see what we can do to help.

Much love to you all,

Rachel.
